Traveling With A Baby

The idea of traveling was both terrifying and thrilling after caring for a newborn the past two months. On one hand relaxing on a beach sounded idyllic after the endless days of diaper changing and sleepless nights. On the other hand the source of those sleepless nights, my 2 month old daughter Audrey, would be joining me on the trip to Cancun and oh dear god, how would she do on the plane, will she sleep outside of home, will I even have fun?
Turns out, audrey is a little jet setter. She was an angel on the plane, much to the relief of my dubious fellow passengers in first class. We stayed at The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun which was the perfect choice for traveling with a baby because of the Club Level. Staying on the Club Level with its newly renovated rooms allowed us to eat and enjoy a cocktail or two without the pressure that comes from taking a baby to a restaurant. We were free to come and go as we pleased without having to place an order or wait for a check if Audrey suddenly got fussy.

We enjoyed the beach in the mornings and swam in the gorgeous heated pool in the afternoons. Despite the hotel being practicality full, there were always plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The service was exceptional and the staff sent great little gifts for Audrey, including a little safety kit with a faucet protector, thermometer, and baby bath amenities.

If you are in Cancun it is worth visiting Chichen Itza, a Mayan pyramid about 2 hours away. A private guide is best as it allows you to view the many ruins at your own pace while avoiding the large crowds. Our advisors can help book a reputable guide and transportation. Bring plenty of water as it is hot and if you bring a baby be prepared for limited diaper changing facilities.
